Wrestling Falls to Cornell, Columbia and Bloomsburg at Northeast Duals

Albany, N.Y.- Drexel's wrestling squad went 0-3 on the day at the Northeastern duals held in Albany, N.Y. The Dragons finished with five wins out of 30 individual matches. In duals with Ivy powers Cornell and Columbia, the Dragons fell 40-0 and 26-9, respectively. They followed that up with a 33-6 defeat at the hands of Bloomsburg.
Frank Cimato, Brandon Palik, and Bryan Sternlieb had the day's highlight performances. Cimato and Sternlieb both went 2-1 taking down Columbia and Bloomsberg while Palik finished with a win over Columbia.
In the 141 pound match against Columbia, Cimato won a 7-2 decision to get the Dragons their first points of the afternoon. When Sternlieb's turn came up at 184, he wrestled his way to a hard-fought 7-5 decision. Palik followed with a 3-1 victory at 197.
Cimato once again got Drexel on the board against Bloomsburg, winning a 4-1 decision. Sternlieb got the Dragons' other three points with his second win of the day, 9-7 at the 184 position.
Some of the Dragon squad competed at the Mat Town Open hosted by Lock Haven as well. Freshman Matt Cimato finished third at 149 while David Pearce placed sixth at 133. Nicholas Maccini and Ethan Keiser also competed.
Drexel returns to the mats on December 1 when they host VMI, following that up the next day with a tilt against Hofstra at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
