Squash Wraps Up New England Trip

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's and women's squash teams completed their weekend in New England with losses to Williams, Trinity and Middlebury. The men's team fell 8-1 to Williams and Trinity while dropping a close match at Middlebury, 5-4. The women were shutout by Williams and Trinity, and fell to Middlebury 7-2.
Ibrahim Bakir won the Dragons' lone point against Williams on Saturday, defeating Nick Marks 11-3, 12-10, 11-7 at the No. 1 position on the Drexel ladder. Against Trinity, it was Justin Singh getting Drexel on the board with a 11-6, 11-7, 11-8 triumph over Matthew Mackin at No. 2.
On Sunday, the Dragons battled Middlebury, coming up just short in a 5-4 decision. Again, Singh got a victory at No. 2, winning 11-8, 11-5, 11-9 over Parker Hurst. Binura Jayasuriya handled business at No. 3, defeating Spencer Hurst 11-3, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9. Mike Dolente won at No. 4 over Andrew Jung, 11-5, 11-4, 11-5, while Joey Gingold got Drexel's fourth victory at No. 6, 12-10, 11-9, 12-10 over Reed Palmer.
On the women's side, Drexel fell by 9-0 counts to Williams and Trinity, with both matches played at Williams College. On Sunday, the Dragons got victories in the top two spots at Middlebury, with Damindhi Udangawa winning at No. 1, 11-6, 11-3, 7-11, 11-6 over Charlotte Dewey and Kaitlyn Money downing Annie Wymard, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7.
The Drexel men will host one more match, on December 7 against Navy, before breaking for the winter. The women will now begin their break, next competing on January 19.
