Philadelphia – Drexel University's field hockey team handed Virginia Commonwealth its first loss of the season, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Buckley Field. Junior forward Elise DiDonato scored the game-winning goal in the opening minutes of the second half to secure the win for Drexel. The Dragons recorded their second-straight win improving to 7-3 overall. The Rams dropped to 7-1.
In the 42nd minute of the game, DiDonato regained possession off of her blocked shot and chipped the loose ball over the left shoulder of opposing goalkeeper Megan Botteri. The Dragons led by one for the remainder for the contest.
