PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's squash team fell at the Kline & Specter Squash Center to No. 3 Princeton on Tuesday night, 9-0. Joey Gingold took his match to five sets, one of four players to win at least a set against the Tigers.
Drexel was facing a team coached by the Dragon's former assistant, Sean Wilkinson. Wilkinson's new charges took care of business handily, although Drexel put up a good fight.
Gingold had one of the more competitive matches of the day, falling in five sets to Michael LeBlanc at No. 7. After dropping the first set 11-5, Gingold rebounded for an 11-7 victory in the second. He also bounced back from an 11-1 third-set loss for an 11-8 fourth-set victory. However, in the fifth and deciding set, Gingold couldn't finish things off as LeBlanc won, 11-4.
Ibrahim Bakir at No. 1, Justin Singh at No. 2 and Nat Fry at No. 9 also each won a set in their matches before falling. While the other five Dragons were defeated in straight sets, none was completely outdone. Michael Thompson, playing at No. 3, made Dylan Ward work for his three-set win, falling 12-10, 12-10, 11-8. Sebastian Dangond similarly put up a tremendous effort at No. 5, going down to Sam Ezratty, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9. Mark Kauf at No. 4 fell 11-7, 11-5, 12-10.
The Dragons will hit the road next for matches at Harvard and Brown this weekend. They will take on Harvard in Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6.
