Women's Squash Nabs 9-0 Win at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Drexel women's squash team won its fourth match in its last five outings on Wednesday, traveling to Haverford and shutting out the hosts, 9-0. The Dragons dropped just one set on the day en route to the victory.
Kaitlyn Money handled business for the Dragons at the top of the ladder, winning 11-4, 11-7, 11-5 over Bethany Simmonds. At No. 2, Katherine Barnes rolled to an 11-5, 11-4, 11-4 triumph over Alex Love. Laura Rahauser was victorious at No. 3, 11-1, 11-6, 11-2 over Alisa Strayer.
Playing at No. 4, Kiran Vasudevan was flawless in two of her three sets, winning 11-0, 11-4, 11-0 over Randee Johnson. Starting with her, the middle of Drexel's ladder was particularly dominant on Wednesday, with only one Haverford player between Nos. 4 and 8 earning as many as five points in a set. Disha Thahryamal won 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 at No. 5, while Atiqah Shahrin won 11-5, 11-3. 11-1 at No. 6.
The most dominant effort of the evening came at No. 7, where Davila Thompson allowed a total of three points to her opponent, Hannah Miller, rolling to an 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 win. Anna Schmiedicke at No. 8 was not far off Thompson's pace, winning 11-1, 11-2, 11-2 over Mimi Fuchs. Finally, at No. 9, Haverford managed to get a set, but could not win a match as Andrea Miguelez won 6-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-7.
Drexel will return to action on Saturday for Senior Day, as Shahrin and Schmiedicke will be honored at their final home matches. The Dragons will take on Virginia at the Kline & Specter Squash Center starting at 4:00 p.m.
