Wrestling Takes Down Franklin & Marshall, 27-9

Lancaster, Pa. – Drexel Wrestling defeated Franklin & Marshall, 27-9, on Friday night. The Dragons improve to 8-9 overall, while the Diplomats fall to 6-7.
Jacob Goodwin started off the night with a 5-4 decision to get the Dragons on the board. The Diplomats then took the lead after three consecutive bout wins to put them up 9-3. The Dragons responded with a win from Austin Sommer at 157, followed by a victory from Connor Moran at 165 to even up the score at nine. Kevin Matyas earned a crucial pin against Franklin & Marshall's Colin Gironda to give Drexel the lead with three matches to go.
From this point on the Dragons dominated, winning out the rest of the bouts. Bryan Sternlieb added an 11-3 major decision at 184 while Brandon Palik picked up a tech fall at 197. Jon Max Wright finished out the night with a 2-1 decision to give Drexel the victory.
Next up, the Dragons will head to Lawrenceville, N.J. to take on Rider on Sunday, February 10 before returning home for the final home dual of the season. Drexel will honor its departing seniors on Senior Night as they host Rutgers on Friday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m.
