Three Rowers Selected to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

Philadelphia – Drexel University's Alyssa Leahy, Tori King and Colleen Delaney received Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team honors for women's rowing. All honorees were selected by the 28 sports information offices from the Philadelphia area.
Leahy helped the women's varsity four win a bronze medal at the 2013 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, which marked the first medal victory in that event for Drexel. From the bow seat, she guided the Sandra Lee Sheller boat to a silver medal finish at the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Championships. The Madison, Wisconsin native also placed first at the Kelly Cup and the Kerr Cup.
King was a member of the women's second varsity eight boat that captured a gold medal at the 2013 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. She posted first-place at the Frostbite Regatta, the Kerr Cup and the Kelly Cup Regatta. The Haddon Township, New Jersey product finished second in the grand final at the Occoquan Sprints and the Navy Day Regatta. The sophomore also recorded third-place at the Murphy Cup and the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
Delaney was part of the women's varsity eight boat. She is a two-time first-place finisher at the Rumson Boat Race and the Frostbite Regatta. The junior recorded 29th overall out of 40 participants at the Head of the Charles Regatta. The Philadelphia native earned first in the petite final at the Murphy Cup Regatta and posted sixth place at the Occoquan Sprints. Delaney also finished second in the third final at the Knecht Cup and placed second in the Kerr Cup final. The women's varsity eight shell also clocked in first at the Kelly Cup and tallied third-place in the second final at the 2013 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta.
Leahy, a junior, has a 3.55 grade-point average in anthropology. King has a 3.97 grade-point average in psychology. Delaney, an elementary education major, has a grade-point average of 3.52.
