The Drexel men's basketball team will make its first visit to SECU Arena on Saturday afternoon when it faces Towson University. The game beings at 4:30 and can be seen live nationally on the NBC Sports Network.
The Dragons are coming off a 77-74 win at Hofstra on Wednesday night. Drexel made it first four shots from the floor and raced out to an early lead. The Pride came back to take a five-point lead halfway through the second half, but Drexel rallied and went ahead on a Chris Fouch three-pointer. Hofstra tied it once again, but the Dragons went on a 5-0 run late and hung on for the win.
Frantz Massenat had one of the best games of his career on Wednesday. The senior scored a career-high 32 points and was 6-for-9 from deep. He played the entire game and handed out nine assists without committing a turnover. Fouch added 19 points and the Dragons once again took care of the ball, committing just six turnovers in picking up their 11th win of the year. Drexel is now 11-9 overall and 3-4 in CAA play.
Massenat and Fouch have been carrying the offensive load all season and even more so in league play. Massenat averages 24 points in CAA play, while Fouch is right behind him at 22.7 points per game. They are both shooting better than 42 percent from three-point territory in CAA play.
Towson enters the contest at 13-8 overall (4-2 CAA). The Tigers snapped a brief two-game losing skid on Monday night with a convincing 76-58 win against Hofstra at SECU Arena. Towson led the entire way and had five players score in double figures. Mike Burwell led the way with 17 points. Jerrelle Benimon recorded another double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Benimon leads the team with 18.3 points and leads the CAA with 11.5 rebounds per game. Marcus Damas scored his 1,000th career point in the Hofstra game and chips in with 12.4 points per game. The Tigers shoot 45 percent from the floor and outrebound their opponents by 6.8 caroms per game.
