Richmond, Va. - The Drexel women's soccer team fell to VCU, 1-0 on the road on Friday evening. Megan Hammaker got four shots off to no avail in the losing effort.
VCU came out fighting, taking three shots in the first 14 minutes. Hammaker took her first shot in the 17th minute, but it was saved by VCU goalie Emma Kruse. Her second attempt would come in the 33rd but it went wide of the net.
The Rams put themselves on the board as Gabby Dyer found the goal off a pass from Tori Burress with just over 12 minutes to go in the first half. The Dragons would get off two more shots before the end of the period without success and thus went into halftime trailing the Rams, 1-0.
Despite four shots from the Drexel offense in the second half, VCU was able to hold off the Dragons and earn the victory.
