Dragons Speed Past Howard in Dual Meet

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Drexel men's and women's swimming teams won every event versus Howard on Saturday. The Dragons saw multiple first time winners and recorded multiple 1-2 finishes.
Cameron Hoyer (200 free), Sean Swartz (100 Back), Ryan DeMott (500 free) and Emily Anne Charniga (500 free) all recorded their first wins at Drexel on the afternoon.
"I am really pleased with the performance and attitude of the team today after a hard week of practice. They had an opportunity to swim off events that they do not normally get to swim and they raced hard", said Adam Braun. "We are really looking forward to next weekend against Georgetown and sending our seniors off right on senior day."
The Dragons swept both of the 200 freestyle relays with 1-2-3 finishes for the men and women. Drexel went 1-2 in the 200 medley relays to start the day as well.
Along with his win, Hoyer finished second to Chad Schmidt in the 100 free. Schmidt had a winning time of 49.50. Brian Woo made it a Dragon sweep of the podium with a third place finish.
Swartz's win was part of another Dragon 1-2 in the 100 back with Liam McLaughlin coming in second. McLaughlin recorded another second place finish in the 200 IM, behind Joel Berryman.
DeMott finished second behind Hoyer in the 200 free to go along with his first career win.
Miranda Rouse and Emily Joyce went 1-2 in the 200y free. It was Rouse's first time swimming the event this season. Katie Duggan and Sara Golshahr repeated the feat in the 50y free. Also Joyce and Brianna Bentz went 1-2 in the 100y free.
Drexel added 1-2 finishes in the women's 200 IM, men's 50 free and 100y free on the afternoon.
Emily Lau got her first win of the season with in the 100 breaststroke. Claudia Duguay did the same in the 100 butterfly and Aubrey Murray in the 100 backstroke.
The Dragons host the Hoyas of Georgetown next Saturday at 2 p.m. on senior day at Drexel Pool.
