Women's Squash Sweeps William Smith, 9-0

PHILADELPHIA – For the third time in their last six games the Drexel women's squash team swept their opposition. On Friday it was William Smith that was swept by Drexel. The win moves the Dragons' record to 5-6 on the season. The Herons fall to 7-3 on the season.
The Dragons swept all four matches in the first round versus the Herons. Kristine Giltvedt beat Justine Shank in three games; 11-2, 11-2 and 11-3, in the eighth spot in the Drexel ladder. Laura Rahauser also won in three, 11-5, 11-2, and 11-2, over Eleanor Hayes. The win is Rahauser's fifth of the season.
Ryan Morgan swept Allison Rubin. Morgan surrendered just nine points in those three games. Morgan now has six wins from the number two spot in the ladder. Mary Fung-A-Fat improved to 2-0 in the number four spot with a win over Andrea Tran. Fung-A-Fat's sweep included a shutout in game number two.
Abigail Kaplan won four of the last five points to win game one, 11-7, versus Anna Worcester. Kaplan then cruised in games two and three to earn the win. Hayley Hughes got out to an early lead in games one and two versus Cashel McCarthy and turned those leads into wins. The two were tied at seven in game three before Hughes won four of the last five points to complete the sweep.
Elisa Money started her match with Michaelann with a 5-1 lead, which led to an 11-3 win in game one. In game two it was a 6-1 lead that led to another 11-3 win. Game three saw Elisa hold a 5-4 lead before winning six of the next seven points to complete the sweep. Kaitlyn Money cruised in her match in the number five spot. Kaitlyn won 11-8 in game one then allowed a total of six points in games two and three. Courtney Sabo surrendered the fewest points of any Dragon in her sweep of Molly Dorna. Sabo gave up just eight total points in the three games.
Up next for the Dragons is match at No. 6 Cornell tomorrow at 12 p.m. The Dragons then conclude thier New York road trip with a match versus Rochester on Sunday.
