Squash Swept by No. 19/16 Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Drexel men's and women's squash teams fell to the host No. 19/16 Middlebury Panthers on Friday night. The men fell 5-4 to drop their record to 4-8 on the season. The win lifts the Panters' record to 11-6. The Drexel women dropped their match 6-3, which moved their record to 6-8 in 2014-15. The Panther women improve to 12-5.
The men got wins from Atticus Kelly and Luke Willemse at the top of the ladder. The win, which was a 3-0 sweep, was Kelly's fifth from the number one spot this season. Willemse got his ninth overall win on the season by winning games two, three and four after falling 11-9 in game one.
Michael Thompson and Cillian Dunne got the third and fourth wins on the night for the Dragons in spots four and five respectively. Thompson swept Harrison Croll and only surrendered 13 total points. Dunne won a 12-10 game two, which propelled him to wins in games three and four to win in four games. Mark Kauf held a 2-1 lead versus David Cromwell but dropped games four and five by scores of 11-8 and 11-9. Sebastian Dangond was in the same situation as Kauf, up 2-1, but then dropped games four and five by identical 11-6 scores.
Hayley Hughes and Ryan Morgan got the Dragon women wins at the top of the ladder. Hughes improves to 8-3 at the top of the Drexel ladder and Morgan improves to 8-4 in the number two spot. Kaitlyn Money went the distance to pick up a win for the Dragons. Money cameback from a 2-1 hole and won game five 12-10 to get the five-game match win.
Laura Rahauser had a 2-1 lead heading into game four but Liddy Renner won that game easily, 11-3, and then Renner won game five, 11-8, to earn the match win. The Dragons were swept in spots 6-9 of the ladder.
Up next for Drexel is a road match at No. 15/12 Williams on Saturday at 12 p.m.
