RESULTS
Saturday: Women's Swimming and Diving Places Second at Patriot Invite
FAIRFAX, Va. – The Drexel women's swimming and diving team completed competition at the Patriot Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., on Saturday evening as the Dragons finished in second place. UNCW won the meet with 793 points followed by Drexel (608), UMBC (596.5), George Mason (515.5) and Richmond (496) to round out the top five.
Aubrey Murray touched the wall at 51.56 in the 100 free to come in second.
Miranda Rouse finished fourth in the 1650 free with a final time of 17:28.74. Emily Joyce came in fifth behind Rouse as she touched the wall at 17:33.29.
Emily Lau placed third in the 100 IM when she touched the wall at 1:00.74. Rachel Bernhardt came in fourth at 1:00.95.
Gillian Gress finished third in the 200 back with a final time of 2:02.82.
The women closed the evening with a victory in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:26.55, almost three seconds faster than the second-place time, with a foursome of Aubrey Murray, April Forsthoffer, Claudia Duguay and Rachel Bernhardt. The time broke a Drexel school record by one-hundredth of a second. The victory helped the women clinch second place at the meet. The win in the free relay also led to Drexel sweeping all the freestyle relays at the meet as they won the 200 on Thursday, 800 on Friday and 400 on Saturday.
The women will now gear up for the AT&T Winter National Championships in Federal Way, Wash. from Dec. 3-5.
Friday: Women's Swimming and Diving in Third After Day Two of Patriot Invite
FAIRFAX, Va. – The Drexel women's swimming and diving team completed day two of the George Mason-hosted Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va. on Friday. Friday's events consisted of the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 800 free relay along with the women's 1m and men's 3m dives. The Dragons are currently in third place with one day remaining in the meet. UNCW (560) leads the women while UMBC (426.5) ranks second followed by Drexel (423), Richmond (357) and Seton Hall (322) to round out the top five.
Aubrey Murray won the 200 free on Friday evening with a time of 1:51.62.
April Frostoffer broke a Drexel record in the 400 IM with a final time of 4:29.06 to finish third in the event. Miranda Rouse also broke the previous school record to place fifth at 4:30.44.
Rachel Bernhardt came in second to a swimmer from UMBC in the 100 breast as the Drexel junior touched the wall at 1:02.99.
In the 200 medley relay, Forstoffer, Bernhardt, Emily Lau and Claudia Duguay finished third with a time of 1:45.48.
The women closed out Friday evening with a victory in the 800 free relay behind Duguay, Rouse, Emily Joyce and Murray with a time of 7:35.84.
The meet concludes tomorrow with the 1650 free, 100 IM, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 400 free relay.

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The Drexel women's swimming and diving team closed out day one of the three-day, George Mason-hosted Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va. this Thursday evening. The Dragons are currently in second place with 194 points behind UNCW at 258. Thursday's events consisted of the 50 free, 500 free, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 400 medley relay along with the women's 3m and men's 1m dives.
The women won the 200 free relay to open the finals portion of the meet on Thursday. Claudia Duguay, Aubrey Murray, Emily Lau and Rachel Bernhardt earned the victory with a time of 1:35.64.
Freshman April Forsthoffer set a new freshman record in 200 IM (2:06.24) during the morning prelims to earn the second seed in the finals. In the finals, she beat her prelims' time, finshing second as she touched the wall at 2:06.06.
Duguay earned second in the 50 free at 23.94.
The women also placed fifth in the 'A' heat of the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:51.06.
