PHILADELPHIA – The No. 8 Drexel men's squash team (7-2) ended the calendar year with an 8-1 win over the Williams Ephs (1-4) on Sunday afternoon from the Kline & Specter Squash Center in the Daskalakis Athletic Center at Drexel University.
Junior Nat Fry won the first match for Drexel from the No. 8 position in sweeping fashion over Williams' Will Ruggiero, 11-5, 11-6, 11-6.
Sophomore Atticus Kelly gave the Dragons a 2-0 lead with his three-game victory from the No. 2 position against John Fitzpatrick, 11-7, 11-6, 11-8.
Senior Ibrahim Bakir split the first two games with Mike Petrick from the No. 4 before taking the third and fourth, 11-5, 9-11, 11-9, 12-10.
Sophomore Noel Solomon also added a No. 7 matchup win with his 11-3, 8-11, 11-1, 11-6 victory, edging Williams' Varun Sharma.
Senior Joey Gingold clinched the Sunday afternoon victory for the Dragons, playing from the No. 9 position, as he defeated Jamie Havran, 11-6, 11-9, 11-5.
Freshman Bransten Ming, junior Michael Thompson and freshman Omar El Atmas added to the victory, winning from the No. 3, 5 and 1 spots respectively.
The Dragons will now take the rest of December off of competition before hosting top-ranked Trinity on Tuesday, Jan. 5 to open the 2016 year.
