No. 12 Men's Squash Tops No. 13 Williams in First Round of Hoehn Cup

HARTFORD, Conn. - For the second time this season Drexel and Williams met and the outcome was the same as the first, a Drexel win. That win started the Dragons current six match winning streak. On Friday, the No. 12 Dragons (10-8) got another 6-3 win over the No. 13 Ephs (13-10) in the first round of the Hoehn Cup.
Joey Gingold and Ibrahim Bakir got the Dragons off to a great start by winning the first two matches of the day. Like the first time these two sides played earleir this season, Gingold beat Nicholas Greaves-Tunnell 3-0 and Bakir beat Christopher Wilkinson 3-0.
Williams took the next two matches to even the score at two. Mark Kauf lost in four to John Shuck and Sebastian Dangond also lost in four to Jamie Havran.
Nat Fry earned his four game win after needing to go to 16-14 in game one versus Michael Petrick. Cillian Dunne rallied to force a game five versus Galen Squires after dropping the first two games but fell in five games.
Michael Thompson swept Addington Graham for the second time this season in the number four spot for Drexel. Thompson now has 11 wins on the season. Atticus Kelly sealed the win for the Dragons with his win versus Kevin Chen in the number two spot, 3-1. Kelly now has 10 wins in his freshman season. Luke Willemse improved to 3-0 at the top of the ladder with his win over Jamie Ruggiero. The South African native is now 15-3 in his first campaign for the Dragons.
Drexel now takes on No. 9 Princeton tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. with a spot in the the Hoehn Cup Finals on the line. The Dragons fell to the Tigers back on December 3 in Princeton by the score of 6-3.
