HARTFORD, Conn. – For the second consecutive day the Drexel men's squash team faced an opponent who they had already faced this season. Unlike yesterday when No. 12 Drexel beat No. 13 Williams, the Dragons could not get the same result versus No. 9 Princeton.
Drexel (10-9) are now 0-3 all-time versus Princeton (7-8). The loss was the first for the Dragons on a neutral court.
Like yesterday the Dragons started the day with wins from Joey Gingold and Ibrahim Bakir in spots nine and three respectively in the ladder. Both players won in four games after dropping the second game of their matches. In the last match of the first set of three, Michael LeBlanc edged Mark Kauf in five games by winning game five, 11-9. The two players alternated wins throughout the match.
In the second wave, Princeton got wins from Sam Ezratty at number eight and Tyler Osborne at number two. Cillian Dunne made the score 3-3 heading into the last group of three matches with his win over Taylor Tutrone at number 5.
Samuel King, at the top of the ladder, and David Hoffman, at number four, swept their respective Dragon opponents to clinch the match for the Tigers. Nat Fry's win at number seven was an impressive comeback from a 0-2 hole but did not affect the outcome.
Up next for the Dragons is the third place game versus No. 10 Cornell at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. The Dragons and the Big Red have already met this season with the Big Red getting a 7-2 win back on January 24.
