1/16/2016 6:05:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Towson, Md. – Towson capitalized on a dreadful shooting day by the Dragons and defeated Drexel, 69-50, at SECU Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers improved to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Dragons lost their second straight CAA game and are now 3-14 overall (1-5).
For the second straight game, the Dragons got off to a miserable start shooting the basketball. Drexel started out just 1-for-12 from the floor and made only five field goals the entire first half. When Eddie Keith hit a three-pointer as time expired, Towson's lead swelled to 33-12. No Dragon had more than a field goal or two points as Drexel had its lowest first half scoring total of the season.
The second half wasn't much better as the Dragons were never able to get back in the game. In the end, the Dragons finished with their worst shooting performance of the season. Drexel shot just 27 percent from the floor in the game. No Dragon shot better than 50 percent from the floor. Terrell Allen led the Dragons with 15 points. The freshman was 8-for-10 from the line and also had five rebounds. Even the rookie struggled from the field as he made just three of his 13 field goal attempts. Sammy Mojica added 12 points and made three three-pointers. Rodney Williams added eight points. Tavon Allen, Drexel's leading scorer, was held scoreless.
Towson had four players score at least 10 points. William Adala Moto, who was held scoreless in the first half, finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Eddie Keith II came off the bench to go 4-for-4 from the game and had 14 points. Towson shot 51 percent and was 56 percent from deep.
The Dragons finish their three-game road swing on Thursday night at James Madison. Tip-off for the game against the Dukes is at 7 p.m.
