Men’s Swimming and Diving Defeats Georgetown on Thursday, 177-122

RESULTS
WASHINGTON - The Drexel men's swimming and diving team earned a 177-122 victory over the Georgetown Hoyas on Thursday evening from McCarthy Pool in Washington, D.C.
Kyle Lukens won both the 100 and 200 fly events. Lukens broke Georgetown's pool record in the 100 with a time of 50.34. He finished first in the 200 at 1:52.96. Alberto Lagrutta Saenz finished closely behind Lukens in both events for second place with respective times of 53.49 and 1:58.80.
Dane Bell earned victories in the two long distance races. Bell touched the wall at 4:43.87 in the 500 free and 9:55.03 in the 1000 free for both of the wins. The men went on to sweep the 500 with Patrick Cobb (4:44.04) and Ivo Pejovic (4:48.61) taking second and third.
Joel Berryman won two individual races on Thursday. The senior won the 100 back with a time of 50.62 and the 100 free at 46.90.
J.T. Lumpkin came in second in the 100 back (53.26) and would also win the 200 back with a first-place time of 1:58.38. Lagrutta Saenz finished second in the 200 (1:59.31) for three second-place marks on the day. Liam McLaughlin came in third at 1:59.54 to close out the sweep.
Ralph Cannarozzi III finished first in the 100 breast (59.63) and second in the 200 breast (2:12.50).
Matthew Klotz and Luke Hanner finished one-two in the 200 free for the Dragons. Klotz touched the wall at 1:44.02 for the victory while Hanner finished at 1:44.38.
David Sanchez swept both boards on Thursday. He scored 298.20 in the 1m dive and 304.20 in the 3m.
Berryman, Cannarozzi, Lukens and Cobb placed first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.03, which was the first event of the evening.
The Dragons will now host Lehigh during Homecoming Weekend on Senior and Alumni Day on Saturday, Jan. 30. This marks the final home meet of the year. Action begins at noon from the Drexel Pool in the Daskalakis Athletic Center.
