Bernhardt, Kutch Win 200 Breast, Back ‘B’ Finals at AT&T Winter Nationals

ATLANTA – Drexel swimming closed out its competition in a big way on Saturday night from the 2016 AT&T Winter National Championships in Atlanta, Ga. from Georgia Tech's Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center. Senior Rachel Bernhardt and freshman Alexa Kutch each won a respective 'B' finals at the national competition.
After qualifying for the 200-yard backstroke finals with a 10th-place (1:56.86) finish in the morning prelims, freshman Alexa Kutch won the 'B' finals for the event with a time of 1:56.00 for the fastest time in the Colonial Athletic Association ever by a woman.
Senior Rachel Bernhardt also qualified for her second set of finals at the Winter National Championships. The senior finished 10th in the morning prelims of the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:12.40 before winning the 'B' finals and breaking her own team record with a time of 2:10.62.
In the morning, sophomore Joseph Brown placed 32nd of 42 in the men's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:04.41.
The Dragons are back in action at home on Saturday, January 7 at noon with Delaware and Northeastern.
