No. 10 Women’s Squash Falls to No. 9 Dartmouth in the 2016 Kurtz Cup Finals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 10 Drexel women's squash team (11-7) fell to the No. 9 Dartmouth Big Green (8-9) on Sunday evening in the Kurtz Cup Championship matchup by a final of 5-4. The loss ends the Dragons' season as a team.

Sophomore Hayley Hughes won in the No. 1 position for Drexel as she swept Dartmouth's Jacqueline Barnes, 11-2, 11-5, 13-11. The New Zealand native improved to 13-5 for the Dragons.

Fellow sophomore Ryan Morgan won in four games in a 11-4, 10-12, 11-7, 11-3 decision against Victoria Dewey of the Big Green. Morgan moved to 14-4 on the campaign with the win.

Freshman Fiona Power dropped the first game but fought back in the next three to emerge victorious in a No. 4 matchup over Lydie McKenzie, 10-12, 13-11, 12-10, 11-6. The Ireland native tied Morgan for the best record on the team during the season with a 14-4 mark. Power was 7-2 from the No. 4 spot.

Junior Elisa Money grabbed a No. 5 spot win for the Dragons as she downed Zainab Molani, 11-13, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7, in a hard-fought, five-game match. Money improved to 12-4 with the victory.

Morgan and Money both ended the team's season schedule on seven-match winning streaks.

The loss concludes the Dragons' season schedule as select individuals will now gear up to compete at the Women's Individual Nationals in Stamford, Conn. from Friday, March 4 through Sunday, March 6.
