No. 9 Women’s Squash Suffers 5-4 Loss to No. 14 GW

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team (8-5) suffered a tough 5-4 loss on Saturday evening from the Kline & Specter Squash Center to No. 14 George Washington (7-6).
Freshman Fiona Power turned in the first win of the day for the Dragons as she earned her 10th individual victory of the season. Power defeated Emely Levyn from the No. 4 spot, 13-11, 11-8, 11-6. She is the first Dragon to reach a double-digit total on the campaign.
Sophomore Ryan Morgan grabbed an 11-6, 11-6, 11-3 win for Drexel from the No. 3 position on Saturday, helping the Bryn Mawr native reach nine individual wins on the season.
Junior Elisa Money defeated GW's Alexa Tzarnas, 11-5, 11-7, 11-4, from the No. 5 position for Drexel.
Trailing 3-4 in the match as a team, Drexel sophomore Aibigail Kaplan turned in an 11-2, 11-4, 9-11, 11-7 victory to tie up the match 4-all.
Drexel sophomore Hayley Hughes and GW senior Anna Porras were the last match playing. Porras got the best of Hughes, 11-7, 11-8, 11-8, as the Dragons could not mount the comeback.
Next, the Dragons will head to Carlisle, Pa. for a makeup match against Dickinson on Monday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Drexel will then close out its regular-season schedule on Saturday, Feb. 13 against Columbia at the Kline & Specter Squash Center for senior day.
