Women's Soccer Falls to No. 23 Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Drexel women's soccer team fell to No. 23 Rutgers on Sunday afternoon, 5-0. Five different Scarlet Knights scored for the nationally-ranked Rutgers team on the outing.
Rutgers got on the board for the first time in the 10th minute as Nicole Whitley found Carina Hendley in the box, who put it into the net. Whitley would also record assists on the Scarlet Knights' second and third goals, which came in the 26th and 49th minutes respectively.
After leading 2-0 at halftime, Rutgers came out and extended its lead to 3-0 just four minutes into the second half. The Scarlet Knights would go on to solidify their victory with two more goals, one from Jenna Seddon in the 77th minute and then the final one from Erica Murphy with under nine minutes to play.
The Scarlet Knights outshot the Dragons, 22-4. Christiana Ogunsami and Libby Baeza shared time in goal for the Dragons, with Ogunsami recording five saves over almost 70 minutes and Baeza notching two stops in her 20 minutes of action. Rutgers keeper Alana Jimenez tallied two saves in 81 minutes played, while Brianna Scarola finished out the game with just under nine minutes played.
With the loss, the Dragons move to 4-4 on the season, while the nationally-ranked Scarlet Knights improve to 5-1-1.
Next up, Drexel will visit University City neighbor Penn on Sunday, Sept. 18. The game is slated to begin at 5 p.m. at Rhodes Field.
