GREELEY, Colo. – The Drexel women's soccer team fell to Northern Colorado by a score of 1-0 on Friday night. The game remained scoreless through halftime, but the Bears were able to get on the board relatively early in the second half and hold onto their lead through the remainder of regulation.
In the 59th minute the Bears broke away down the field. The Drexel defense made an attempt to clear the ball, but the block took a hop that Northern Colorado's Sydney Schroeder was able to handle and put past keeper Christiana Ogunsami from six yards out. Despite multiple attempts from the Dragons late in the second half, the Bears were able to hold them off and went on to secure the victory.
The Dragons outshot the Bears, 16-9 in the losing effort with seven shots on goal. Ogunsami recorded two saves on the night for the Dragons, while Northern Colorado's Madeline Burdick totaled seven.
With the loss, Drexel moves to 3-2 on the season while Northern Colorado improves to 3-1-1.
The Dragons return to action on Sunday as they are set to face Colorado in the final game of its weekend road trip in Boulder, Colo. The match is scheduled to begin at noon local time, 2 p.m. EST.
