No. 14 Women’s Squash Sweeps No. 21 Wellesley on Monday Night

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 14 Drexel women's squash team (3-6) swept the No. 21 Wellesley Blue (3-2) from the Kline & Specter Squash Center on Monday night.
The Dragons turned in their first 9-0 sweep since taking down Mount Holyoke on January 31, 2016 during the 2015-16 campaign. In total, the women had four sweeps last year with Monday night's coming as the first of 2016-17.
Sophomore Ryan Morgan led Drexel at the top as she defeated Wellesley's Meera Mayar, 11-2, 11-7, 11-3, from the No. 1 spot.
Sisters Hayley and Anna Hughes turned in wins from the No. 2 and 3. Anna's victory over Wellesley's Haley Connor from the No. 3 position came as the first of her young collegiate career.
Sophomore Fiona Power, senior Kaitlyn Money and sophomore Kathryn Bottger occupied the middle spots on the ladder as each swept their Blue counterpart. Money did not allow her opponent a point in her second game as she won, 11-3, 11-0, 11-2, from the No. 5.
In a similar fashion, senior Maria Diagama only allowed two points in her three-game sweep as she defeated Lumi Kinjo of the Blue, 11-2, 11-0, 11-0.
Fellow senior Kristine Giltvedt and junior Jennifer White turned in victories from the No. 8 and No. 9 spots.
Drexel makes a quick turnaround to host the No. 2 Penn Quakers tomorrow, Tuesday, January 17 from the Kline & Specter Squash Center at 6 p.m.
