No. 14 Women’s Squash Drops Tuesday Night Match to No. 2 Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 14 Drexel women's squash team (3-7) dropped its Tuesday night matchup to the No. 2 Penn Quakers (5-1) from the Kline & Specter Squash Center by a final of 9-0.

Freshman Anna Hughes took on Penn's Marie Stephan from the No. 3 position. The Drexel freshman jumped out to an early lead, picking up the first game before Stephan countered with wins in the second, third and fourth, 9-11, 11-4, 11-4, 11-4.

Senior Mary Fung-A-Fat battled in her No. 4 matchup against Penn's Jessica Davis. Davis took the first, while the Drexel senior grabbed the second game. The Quaker prevailed in the match-clinching affair as she won the final two games for the 11-9, 9-11, 11-8, 11-6 victory.

Sophomore Fiona Power also fought tough in her No. 5 match. Penn's Michelle Wong took the first two games but Power won the third before falling in the fourth to Wong, 11-7, 11-9, 8-11, 11-4.

Drexel now makes a two-match trip to upstate New York to face No. 8 Cornell in Ithaca on Saturday, January 21 and No. 25 William Smith in Geneva on Sunday, January 22.
