No. 7 Men's Squash Falls Saturday Afternoon at No. 8 Princeton, 7-2

PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 7 Drexel men's squash team dropped its Saturday afternoon match at No. 8 Princeton's Jadwin Gym to close the 2017 portion of the schedule, 7-2. The Dragons will enter the new calendar year with a 2-5 record overall, while the Tigers improve to 4-1 on the year.

Drexel got solid performances from freshman Dylan Kachur as well as Mostafa Abouel Makarim. Kachur has been a consistently tough matchup for opponents in the four spot through his first seven collegiate matches, and on Saturday he broke through for his third victory, beating Cody Cortes in four, 11-5, 7-11, 11-9, 11-6. Makarim has solidified the bottom third of the Dragons' ladder. On Saturday, the sophomore outlasted Henry Parkhurt at No. 9 in four games, 12-10, 11-9, 12-14, 13-11.

Outside of Kachur and Makarim, the Dragons won one other game on the afternoon. Atticus Kelly took the first off Cole Becker, but Becker came back to win the match, 11-13, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9. The Dragons played the Tigers tough throughout with five of the seven losses going to at least one tiebreaker, but Princeton proved to be too much overall.

The Dragons will return to action in the New Year, beginning on Jan. 11 against Rochester at the Kline & Specter Squash Center.
