No. 6 Men’s Squash Sweeps No. 14 GW in Friday-Night Road Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The No. 6 Drexel men's squash team (11-4) swept the No. 14 George Washington Colonials (6-6) from GW's Lerner Health & Wellness Center on Friday evening by a final of 9-0.

It comes as the sixth sweep of the year for the Dragons after Franklin & Marshall, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Williams and Hobart.

Senior Michael Thompson came back from down two games to defeat GW's Andres de Frutos from the No. 3 spot, 9-11, 11-13, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5 to clinch the victory for the Dragons.

Omar El Atmas, Bransten Ming, Lucas Rousselet, Luke Willemse, Noel Solomon, Joshua Hughes and Cilliam Dunne each won their matches in three-game fashions.

Thompson played the lone five-game match while Mostafa Aboul Makarim won his 11th match of the campaign as he emerged victorious after four games from the No. 7 position.

The Dragons return home to close out their regular-season schedule from the Kline & Specter Squash Center in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday, Feb. 12 with Dickinson. Action is slated for noon.
