No. 6 Men’s Squash Sweeps Dickinson on Sunday to Close Regular Season

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 6 Drexel men's squash team (13-4) earned its second-consecutive sweep of the weekend as the Dragons took down No. 22 Dickinson on Sunday afternoon from the Kline & Specter Squash Center.

Drexel honored Michael Thompson, the lone senior on the men's squad, as he played his final home match of his storied four-year Dragon career. He was 5-1 at the Kline & Specter Squash Center in 2016-17 after his win on Sunday.

Thompson defeated Dickinson's Alex Wattles from the No. 3 position, 11-4, 11-4, 11-5 as the men took eight of the nine matches in three games to close out the home schedule.

Omar El Atmas, Bransten Ming and Thompson held down the top third of the ladder while Lucas Rousselet, Noel Solomon and Joshua Hughes each grabbed wins in the middle of the ladder. Royston Raymond, Ben Mekdeci and Will Grady closed out the bottom third with victories as well.

It came as Mekdeci's first collegiate win. Raymond moved to 4-0 on the year while Grady won his second match of the campaign.

Drexel will now wait until official seeding is released for team nationals tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 13. Nationals are set in Boston, Mass. this year from Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19.
