PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 14 Drexel women's squash team (6-10) makes the short trip to Princeton, N.J. for this year's B Division Kurtz Cup. The Dragons are set to play in their fourth-straight Kurtz Cup, reserved for the No. 9-16 seeds. Drexel squares off against No. 11 Williams in the first round on Friday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. on Princeton's 5, 6 and 7 courts.
The Dragons are guaranteed three matches on the weekend; one on each Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The No. 9 to 16 ranked teams are as follows: Dartmouth, Brown, Williams, Virginia, George Washington, Drexel, Bates and Middlebury, respectively.
With a win against Williams, the Dragons will play on Saturday at 5 p.m. against the winner of the No. 10 Brown/15 Bates match in the semifinals. A loss would move Drexel to the consolation bracket with a match against the loser of Brown/Bates match at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Last year at the 2016 Kurtz Cup, Drexel finished runner-up to Dartmouth in the finals after defeating Middlebury in the quarters and Brown in the semis. Of the eight teams in this year's Kurtz Cup, the Dragons have already faced Dartmouth, George Washington, Williams and Middlebury in 2016-17. Drexel went 2-2 against those squads with wins over GW and Middlebury and a close 5-4 loss to Dartmouth.
The Dragons fell to Williams earlier this year, 7-2, on Dec. 3 in Williamstown, Mass.
