New Haven, Conn. – The Drexel golf team turned in yet another strong spring performance and finished in second place at the Yale Invitational on Saturday. The tournament, which consisted of 36 holes on the day, was played at The Course at Yale.
Drexel finished the tournament with a 589. That score tied the Dragons with Penn for second place behind Yale, who shot a blistering 569. Drexel was one of just three teams to shoot better on its final 18 holes as conditions were difficult on the windy New England afternoon. The Dragons shot 293 on the final 18 after recording a 296 earlier in the day. Drexel and Penn finished a stroke ahead of Cornell and eight strokes better than St. John's and Bucknell.
Yoseph Dance had another top 10 finish for Drexel. The senior finished with a six-over-par 146 to finish in a tie for 10th with two other players. Michael Cook and Adam Mistretta were just one stroke in back of Dance with a 147. Cook finished strong as he played the final 31 holes at even par. Connor Schmidt was nine-over-par at 149 and tied for 19th overall.
Yale junior Will Bernstein shot a one-under 139 on Saturday to capture the individual title.
The Dragons continue their New England swing when they play in the URI Invitational starting on Monday.
