North Kingstown, R.I. - The Drexel golf team shot 296 on Monday morning in its final outing before the Colonial Athletic Association Championship to finish in fourth place at the URI Invitational. The 296 tied for the third best score of the day at Quidnessett Country Club.
Drexel's Yoseph Dance and Connor Schmidt each tied for seventh place overall at 219, which was three-over-par at the par-72 course located in Southern Rhode Island. Dance fired a 73 in his final round. Michael Cook finished the day at even par. The sophomore had a 226 over the 54 holes. Adam Mistretta shot 233, while Aaron Fricke had a 235.
The hosts from URI were the overall winners at 876 (+12). The Rams were eight shots better than Bryant and nine shots ahead of Fordham. Drexel finished six shots in back of Fordham and eight shots ahead of Wagner.
The Dragons head home for a night before departing for Virginia on Wednesday after class. They will play a practice round on Thursday before starting CAA Championship play on Friday morning at the Salisbury Country Club in Midlothian.
