PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over La Salle on the road on Thursday night. Wilhelmina Hauch-Fausbøll scored the game-winning goal for the Dragons, marking her first goal of the season.
The Dragons and Explorers remained scoreless through the first half despite Drexel edging La Salle on shots, 7-6. It wasn't until the 75th minute that Hauch-Fausbøll broke the draw as she found a ball from Madison Dunn and then beat the Explorers' keeper in the air inside the near post. La Salle was unable to come up with the game-tying goal in the remaining 15 minutes of play which enabled Drexel to walk away with its third victory of the season.
Drexel outshot La Salle, 17-15 on the contest. Keeper Christiana Ogunsami recorded a season-high eight saves on the night, while the Explorers' Larisa Zambelli tallied six of her own.
With the win the Dragons improve to 3-2 on the season. La Salle moves to 3-1-1 thus far this year.
Next up, the Dragons will continue their five-game road trip as they head to Rutgers on Sunday, Sept. 3 to face the No. 16 Scarlet Knights in a game that is set to begin at 1 p.m.
