Galloway, N.J. - The Drexel golf team finished in a tie for second place at the City 6 Invitational held at Galloway National Golf Club. The tournament marked the end of the fall season for the Dragons.
Drexel won the tournament a year ago, but finished six shots behind eventual-winner Temple. Difficult weather conditions made for high scores on Saturday. The Owls won by shooting 28-over par. They were six shots better than both the Dragons and Saint Joseph's. Drexel and SJU each shot 318. Villanova came in fourth, followed by La Salle. The par-71 course played at more than 7,100 yards for the tournament
Jeffrey Cunningham and Ben Pochet led the way for Drexel. Both players shot 78. With the fall season complete, the Dragons will be off from competition until March. Their first match of the spring will come on March 4 at the Lonnie Barton Invitational. That tournament will be played at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Fla.
