Men's Squash Shuts Out Dickinson in Season Opener

LANCASTER, Pa. - The No. 11 Drexel men's squash team rolled to a 9-0 shutout victory Saturday afternoon in its season opener over No. 18 Dickinson at the Pennsylvania State Classic.
Bransten Ming set the momentum for the Dragons from the start, winning the No. 1 spot against Abdelrahman Elsergany, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6. Matias Knudsen then went on to take down Sergio Martin for his first career victory, 11-5, 11-3, 11-7, followed by Dylan Kachur's win against Alex Wathes, 11-5, 11-3, 11-8. Filip Krueger and Noel Heaton also earned their first victories as freshman with Krueger outlasting his opponent 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 and Heaton winning 11-5, 11-3, 11-8. Royston Raymond took control at the No. 6 spot, earning an 11-5, 6-11, 11-6, 11-7 victory against Henry Smith. Joshua Hughes then put up a tough fight against Cory Litman, defeating him 3-2. He won the first two, 11-6 and 12-10 before dropping the third and fourth games, 8-11, 10-12. Hughes, however, fought back winning the final game 12-10 for the victory. Will Grady highlighted the action for the Dragons, earning his first career win against Andrew Strudwick in the No. 8 spot, 13-15, 11-9, 12-10, 11-9. Shaan Dalal and Ryan Leslie closed out the final spots of the competition, defeating their opponents 3-1. Dalal earned his first career-win, 11-7, 11-13, 11-9, 11-8 against Graham Henderson to close out the match.
The Dragons (1-0) return to action tomorrow in a match beginning at noon to close out the season-opening Pennsylvania State Classic.
