No. 9 Women's Squash Wins Home Opener Against No. 12 UVA, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team opened play at the Kline & Specter Squash Center with an impressive 6-3 victory against No. 12 UVA on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Dragons improve to 2-1.
Sophomores Hannah Blatt, Mariam Kamal and Ona Prokes all got the Dragons off to a strong start each winning well contested four game matches while senior Apoorva Addepalli lost in straight games.
For the second round of matches, freshmen Brooke Herring got the team off to a great quick-fire start with a straight game win and senior Fiona Power propelled the Dragons over the winning line with a gritty straight game victory against Sarah Doss. Meanwhile, sophomore Stephanie Ryan won in four games. After winning the second game in extra points and losing the third, she showed great resilience to win the fourth game decisively. Junior Anna Hughes could not find her form after tying her opponent at one game all and her opponent got away from her taking the last two games.
The Dragons will return to action when they host No. 4 Stanford at the Kline & Specter Squash Center for a 11 a.m. match on Sunday.
