
Squash Gears Up for Busy Weekend on the Road

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel squash teams get right back into it after home matches against Dartmouth with road contests against Yale and Williams this weekend. The Dragons will take on Yale on Friday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. and will close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. match against Williams on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Last Time Out
Both the men's and women's teams competed last night in matches against Dartmouth at the Kline & Specter Squash Center located in the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The No. 9 Drexel women's team defeated No. 10 Dartmouth, 5-4, while the No. 11 Drexel men dropped its contest to No. 7 Dartmouth. The women's match was highlighted by impressive victories from both Anna Hughes and Ona Prokes in the No. 1 and No. 6 spots. Meanwhile, men's squash freshman Matias Knudsen continued his unbeaten streak and improved his individual record to 4-0.
Scouting Yale
Both the men's and women's Yale squash teams open their seasons on Friday against Drexel after competing in Ivy League Scrimmages. The No. 10 Yale men's squad went 10-9 (2-5 IVY) last season while the No. 5 Yale women's team was 11-6 (5-2 IVY).
Women's Lucy Beecroft earned First Team All-Ivy recognition for the 2017-18 season, playing primarily in the No. 1 spot and finishing with a 9-5 individual record. Spencer Lovejoy and first-year Harrison Gill highlighted All-Ivy recognition for the men's team, earning First Team All-Ivy. Playing the majority of the season at the No. 1 and 2 position, Lovejoy and Gill held down the top of Yale's lineup with stellar results.
Series with Yale
Friday marks the women's fourth meeting with Yale, with the Bulldogs leading the all-time series 3-0. Friday will be the fifth meeting and a tie breaker for the men, with the current all-time series 2-2.
Scouting Williams
The No. 13 William's men's squad is currently 2-1 with a game against Columbia looming on Friday against Columbia. Williams has picked up two 9-0 victories against No. 30 Connecticut College and No. 29 Hamilton while suffering a 9-0 loss at No. 15 Cornell. John C. Fitzgerald and Jacob Bassil have shared the No. 1 spot in the lineup for Williams thus far.
The No. 13 Williams women's team enters its Friday match against Columbia 3-1 on the current season with wins against No. 25 William Smith, No. 27 Connecticut College and No. 22 Hamilton and a loss against No. 8 Cornell. Julia Ward plays for Williams in the top ladder position.

Saturday marks the ninth meeting for the women with both teams holding four all-time wins against each other. The men's squad, on the other hand, holds a 6-2 advantage over the Ephs.
