PHILADELPHIA – Senior Ryan Morgan became the all-time winningest Drexel women's squash player Saturday afternoon as the No. 9 Dragons swept No. 23 St. Lawrence at the Kline & Specter Squash Center, 9-0. The Dragons improved to 7-8 with the victory.
Morgan cruised past Losangela Batista at No. 3, 11-3, 11-4, 11-1, to move past Mary Fung-a-Fat for most wins in Drexel women's squash history. The senior came into the weekend needing one win to tie and two to pass Fung-a-Fat. After a victory yesterday against George Washington, Morgan picked up her 47th career win this afternoon for the record.
The Dragons never gave the Saints a chance en route to the sweep. Anna Hughes made quick work of Katie Smith at No. 1, 11-2, 11-0, 11-4, before Hayley Hughes, making her return to the lineup, dispatched Gabrielle Ahrens, 11-2, 11-3, 11-7. After Morgan won at No. 3, Hannah Blatt continued her strong freshman campaign with an easy 11-1, 11-1, 11-2 victory over Cindy Ama Yao. At No. 5, Ona Prokes did not yield a single point in beating Allie Brazo, 11-0, 11-0, 11-0, before Stephanie Ryan yielded only two to Madison Goodwine in an 11-0, 11-2, 11-0 win at No. 6. Apoorva Addepalli followed up her marathon Friday night win with a three-game win Saturday over Abigail Smith, 11-5, 11-1, 11-2. Emma MacGillivray downed Katie Walsh, 11-0, 11-4, 11-3 at No. 8 before Rebecca Low closed it out with an 11-5, 11-6, 11-5 win over Lindsay Whipple.
The Dragons close out the weekend and the 2018 regular season Sunday morning against No. 15 Middlebury for Senior Day beginning at 10:30 a.m.
