No. 9 Women’s Squash Wins Third Straight Sunday over No. 15 Middlebury, 9-0

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team completed the three-match weekend sweep to close out the regular season Sunday on Senior Day with a 9-0 win over No. 15 Middlebury at the Kline & Specter Squash Center. The Dragons finished out the regular season with an 8-8 record.
Before the match, the Dragons honored the careers of seniors Hayley Hughes and Ryan Morgan.
The Panthers came out swinging but the Dragons had an answer all morning. In the top spot, Anna Hughes coasted past Beatrijs Kuijpers, 11-4, 11-9, 11-0, before the elder Hughes came back from dropping the first game to beat Lucy Bostwick, 8-11, 11-6, 11-2, 11-5. Morgan then extended her program wins record set Saturday with another victory over Alexa Comei, 11-0, 11-3, 11-6. Hannah Blatt then breezed past Anna Glassie at No. 4, 11-2, 11-2, 11-7, while Ona Prokes needed four to beat Natalie Madden, 11-1, 11-0, 11-13, 11-5. In the sixth spot, Fiona Power battled back from a first game loss to beat Virginia Schaus in four, 11-14, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7, then Stephanie Ryan contributed a sweep of Emily Beinkampen, 11-8, 11-5, 12-10. At No. 8, Apoorva Addepalli dropped the first two games to Mira Chugh only to come back and win it in the end, 7-11, 9-11, 11-7, 12-10, 14-12. It was the second time this weekend Addepalli has accomplished such a comeback. Emma MacGillivray closed out the ladder with a 6-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6 victory over Natasha Lowitt.
The Dragons next gear up for Women's Team Nationals beginning Friday, Feb. 16 in Cambridge, Mass.
