No. 12 Men's Squash Edged Friday by No. 13 Brown in Hoehn Cup Quarters, 5-4

HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 12 Drexel men's squash team dropped its Hoehn Cup quarterfinals match Friday afternoon to No. 13 Brown in Hartford, Conn., 5-4. Drexel will next play No. 16 Navy Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the consolation bracket. With the loss Friday, the Dragons dropped to 7-11 on the year.
The Dragons were in the match down 4-3 overall with Nos. 4 and 7 still playing. However, Joshua Hughes could not outlast Thomas Walker at No. 7, giving Brown the 5-3 advantage despite Dylan Kachur taking care of business at No. 4. Drexel was strong at the top of the lineup with wins at Nos. 2-5, but the Dragons could not come through in a couple of five-game matches.
After dropping the top spot, Lucas Rousselet jumped out to an early lead and closed out a four-game win over Maximo Moyer at No. 2, 11-1, 11-4, 5-11, 11-7. At No. 3, Atticus Kelly cruised past Andrew Wei, 11-7, 12-10, 11-6, while the aforementioned Kachur took down Philip Demeulenaere, 11-3, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9. Nat Fry took a five-gamer from Nicholas Pitaro, 11-9, 7-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-7 at No. 5. Noel Solomon and Cillian Dunne played five-gamers at Nos. 6 and 8, respectively, but could not come up with victories in the end.
The Dragons will take on No. 16 Navy Saturday morning in the consolation semifinals. The winner will play the winner of the No. 15 Cornell-No. 14 Virginia/No. 11 Western Ontario consolation match.
