No. 12 Men's Squash Guts Out 5-4 Win over No. 16 Navy in Hoehn Cup Consolation Semis

HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 12 Drexel men's squash team gutted out a 5-4 victory Saturday morning over No. 16 Navy in the Hoehn Cup consolation semifinals in Hartford, Conn. The Dragons advance to take on No. 14 Virginia in the consolation finals Sunday at 11 a.m. Drexel is now 8-11 overall on the year.

The Midshipmen came out swinging in the match, looking to avenge a 6-3 loss to the Dragons earlier in the season. Drexel, however, was there to meet the challenge head on, getting victories at the top four spots as well as No. 6. Dylan Kachur outlasted Senen Ubina in five games at No. 4 to clinch the win for Drexel.

Bransten Ming held down the top spot with an 11-6, 15-13, 11-4 victory over Jack Herold, while Lucas Rousselet followed with a five-game win over Michael Kacergis, coming back from getting shutout in the first game, 0-11, 12-10, 11-2, 9-11, 12-10. At No. 3, Atticus Kelly swept Jonathan Lentz, 12-10, 11-7, 11-8, and Noel Solomon outlasted Dylan Sweeney at No. 6 in four, 11-7, 12-10, 8-11, 12-10. The Dragons dropped a five-gamer at No. 5, four-gamers at Nos. 7 and 9 and a sweep at No. 8 to set up Kachur in the final match. The freshman Kachur came through in the clutch in five with an 8-11, 11-6, 11-8, 4-11, 12-10 win over Ubina.

The Dragons take on No. 14 Virginia Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in the Hoehn Cup consolation final.
