Final Results
Williamsburg, Va. - The Drexel golf team finished in a tie for 10th place overall at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate. The tournament was played at the River Course at the Kingsmill Resort.
Sophomore Connor Schmidt was Drexel's top finisher. He was two-over par on Tuesday afternoon and finished at 222 for the tournament. That was one shot better than Alex Butler. Senior Adam Mistretta was one shot behind Butler with a 224. Freshman Angelo Giantsopoulos finished the day at 75 and the tournament at 225. Freshman Jeffrey Cunningham closed out the event with a 233.
The teams played the three-day event at the famed River Course. The course plays host to professional events, including the upcoming LPGA Kingsmill Championship in May. The par-70, 6,794-yard course was more difficult than usual on Tuesday. The wind was blowing throughout the day and temperatures were in the 40s.
Southern Illinois shot 285 in the final round to pick up the win. Utah Valley was four shots back, while Loyola (Md.) finished seven shots behind. Seton Hall and Old Dominion rounded out the top five. Peyton Wilhoit of Southern Illinois cared a 66 in the final round and was the medalist with a three-day score of 208, which was two shots under par. Loyola's Brendan Peel and Brent Mogran of St. Bonaventure tied for second, three shots behind Wilhoit.
