Dragons Capture Wildcat Invitational for Third Win of 2017-18

Malvern, Pa. - The Drexel golf team picked up its first win of the spring and third win of the 2017-18 season on Tuesday afternoon at White Manor Country Club. The Dragons finished first in the 19-team field at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational. Drexel shots a two-day total of 573, which was just five strokes over par.
Adam Mistretta led the way for Drexel. The senior shot one-under par over the two day event. He opened the tournament with a two-under 69 on Monday and had a 72 on Tuesday. Mistretta finished in a tie for third place overall, his best finish this season. For the second straight day, the Dragons had contributions from the entire squad. Sophomore Connor Schmidt fired an even-par 71 in both rounds and finished the tournament tied for fifth place overall on the 7,055-yard, par-71 course. Senior Aaron Fricke just missed cracking the top 10 at 144. He carded a 74 on the afternoon as did teammates Alex Butler and Brendan Bacskai.
During the fall portion of its schedule, Drexel won the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge as well as the City 6 Invitational which was held at Drexel's home course, the Union League Golf Club at Torresdale. The three wins this year is the most in one season for the team since the 2009-10 season. That team also won three times.
The Dragons will look to stay hot this weekend when they travel to the Navy Spring Invitational.
