PHILADELPHIA – Drexel women's soccer Shaelyn McCarty scored her first goal of the season in a 1-1 double over time draw against Rider on Friday evening at Vidas Athletic Complex.

The game remained scoreless through the first half, despite the Dragons out shooting the Broncs, 10-3. After half time, McCarty took on the last defender and then volleyed her rebounded shot off the keeper back into the bottom right corner of the net to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute of play.

With just five minutes remaining in regulation, Rider's Kourtney Cunningham capitalized off of a deflected corner kick to even the score and send the game into overtime. Both teams continued to trade shots in the first and second over time periods, however, the game would ultimately end in a draw as neither team could find the back of the net.

The Dragons out shot the Broncs 26-11. Libby Baeza made five saves in goal while Rider's Carmen Carbonell totaled 12.

Drexel will return to action on Sunday, Aug. 19 when it travels to Rutgers for a 5 p.m. matchup.
