Dragons Finish Fifth at Rain-Shortened Hartford Hawk Invitational

South Kent, Conn. - The Drexel golf team finished in fifth place at the rain-shortened Hartford Hawk Invitational. The tournament, which was played at Bull's Bridge Golf Club, was postponed yesterday. The teams were able to finish the second round this morning before rain ended the event prematurely. The Dragons were just heating up heading into the final round. Drexel shot three-under par over the final 18 holes of the tournament and finished with an even-par 576.
Four of the five Drexel golfers shot par or better in the final round. Stephen Cerbara, Angelo Giantsopoulos and Connor Schmidt each fired a one-under-par 71. Alex Butler was at par, while Michael Cook shot a 74. Schmidt was the top overall finisher for Drexel. The junior tied for 12th overall at three-under par (141). Cerbara, in only his second tournament as a Dragon, tied for 28th overall along with teammates Giantsopoulos and Butler. Cook finished at 148.
UCF won the tournament going away. The Knights were nine shots better than UConn at 550, 26 shots under par. Seton Hall (564) and Rhode Island (572) were the only other teams that finished ahead of the Dragons. Drexel will be back in New England this weekend when they play at the the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge, which begins on Saturday in Vermont.
