Schmidt Shines as Dragons Place Fourth at Quechee Club Collegiate

QUECHEE, Vt. - Connor Schmidt continued his torrid fall by tying for first place at the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge this weekend in Vermont. Schmidt led the Dragons to a fourth-place finish in the tournament by shooting four-under par over 36 holes.
Schmidt, last week's CAA Co-Player of the Week, tied with three other players with a 140 at the par-72, 6,670-yard Lakeland course at the Quechee Club. Brown's Drew Powell won medalist honors by defeating Schmidt, Connor O'Brien and Chris Tanabe in a playoff with a birdie on the first hole.
The Dragons had a much better round on Sunday as the squad shot even-par 288. Jeffrey Cunningham and Stephen Cerbara each shot even par in the final round. Cunningham finished 12th overall in the tournament at four-over par. He was one shot better than Cerbara, who had a 149. Alex Butler was three-over par on Sunday as the Dragons tied for the second best round on Sunday.
Bucknell won the tournament by shooting seven-over par (583). Cornell and Princeton tied for second at 588, just one stroke less than the Dragons. Harvard finished fifth, 10 shots behind Drexel.
