Dragons Head South to Play in Elon Invitational

Elon. N.C. - The Drexel golf team returns to action after a three-week layoff when it participates in the Phoenix Invitational. The tournament will be hosted by Colonial Athletic Association foe Elon and will be held at Alamance Country Club. The host school won the tournament a year ago.
Alamance Country Club was founded in 1946. The Donald Ross design plays to 6,867 yards and is a par-71 course. The teams will play 54 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. As of Friday, 16 teams are registered to compete starting Monday. Drexel will be competing with Charleston Southern, Delaware, Elon, Gardner-Webb, George Washington, High Point, La Salle, Longwood, Morehead State, Ohio, Presbyterian, Radford, Temple, Towson and Wofford.
The Drexel five will consist of Alex Butler, Jeffrey Cunningham, Angelo Giantsopoulos, Ben Pochet and Connor Schmidt. It will be the first collegiate appearance for Pochet, a freshman from Royersford. Schmidt has had one of the best falls in recent memory. The junior has gone under par in his last four rounds.
