Women's Soccer Falls to William & Mary, 2-0

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - The Drexel women's soccer team was dealt a 2-0 loss against William & Mary in Colonial Athletic Association action on Sunday afternoon on Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
Drexel opened the match with intensity, earning the first corner kick and shot of the game just two minutes after the starting whistle. The rest of the half was evenly played, with both teams getting shots off, until William & Mary pulled ahead in the 36th minute of action. The go-ahead goal was scored by Arundel Miguelez, who finished a corner kick off the foot of Alex Kuhnle.
William & Mary jumped out to a two-goal lead in the 61st minute of action when Sully Boulden finished a pass from leading goal scorer Sarah Segan at the top of the 18-yard box. Despite the deficit, Drexel retaliated with a shot and two corner kick opportunities shortly afterwards. The Dragons fought hard in the last five minutes with a corner kick and two back-to-back shots from Shaelyn McCarty and Lauren Currey, however, they could not finish as William & Mary walked off with the final 2-0 victory.
The Dragons and the Tribe each registered 15 shots while Libby Baeza made five saves in net for Drexel.
Drexel will return to action when they host UNCW on Thursday, Oct. 4 for a 6 p.m. match at Vidas Field.
