Men's Tennis Upended at VCU Invitational

RICHMOND, VA. – The Drexel men's tennis team went 0-2 against Campbell and VCU at the VCU Invitational in Richmond, Va. on Friday afternoon.

The Dragons fell 6-0 to VCU, but had a chance to take a couple points off the Rams. Sanil Jagtiani battled opponent Inigo Torre Martin in the No. 3 spot to extra points in both sets but could not pull away with a win in the end, 7-5, 7-5. In doubles action, Xandy Hammitt and Jagitani with head-to-head with Arvid Noren and Martin, putting up a gritty fight for a tough 7-6(7) outcome.

Drexel's match against Campbell later in the afternoon looked similar, with the Dragons falling 6-0. Both Jagtiani and Youssef Lahlou gave the Camels a scare, almost scoring points for the Dragons. After dropping the first set to Bastien Huon in the No. 3 spot, Jagtiani came back to win the second, 7-6(3), but could not keep the momentum and dropped the third set. Lahlou faced Fernando Clemente in the No. 5 spot, giving him a hard time in the second set, with a final outcome of 6-3, 7-6(9). In doubles action, all three Drexel pairs did not falter with ease, as each game ended in a close score.

Drexel will regroup and return to action this Sunday with a match at Navy. The match is set to begin at
