NEWARK, Del. – Drexel women's soccer suffered its third-straight one-goal defeat on Thursday, falling 1-0 to Delaware on a rainy night at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium.
The Dragons (4-6-2, 0-3-0 CAA) have been in each of their first three conference matches – losing 2-1 in overtime at Hofstra before a pair of 1-0 setbacks to College of Charleston and Delaware. In total, four of Drexel's six losses this season have been by a single goal.
The Blue Hens (7-5-0, 2-1-0) took the lead in the 22nd minute on a set piece goal. Delaware won a corner kick, and Gabby Johnson's delivery found Olivia Schuck for a headed finish at the near post.
Drexel's defense held the Blue Hens to just four on-target attempts out of 11 total shots. Libby Baeza (3-5-1) made three total saves in the loss.
The Dragons took two shots – one apiece from Kylie Kutz and Shea Tomlinson. Kutz put her headed attempt on frame in the 36th minute, but Kamryn Stablein (7-5-0) was up to the task.
Drexel concludes its two-game conference road trip on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it kicks off against Elon.
