No. 11 Men’s Squash Falls at Home to No. 3 Penn, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA – The 11th-ranked Drexel men's squash team dropped a 6-3 match to local rival Penn in the winner's final of the Pennsylvania State Classic on Sunday at the Kline & Specter Squash Center.
Matias Knudsen, Nicko Fehn and Gautam Nagpal all earned victories against the No. 3 Quakers (2-0).
Knudsen improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3-0 sweep of Aly Abou El Einen in the second position, winning 17-15, 11-3, 12-10. Fehn and Nagpal each went the distance in their wins in the eighth and ninth slots, respectively, to remain unbeaten.
Fehn rallied from a two-game deficit to top Wil Hagen. He lost the first two games 11-7, 11-5 before 11-8, 11-9 and 11-4 victories in the last three games.
Nagpal and Hagen traded wins in the first four games of their match. Nagpal won the first and third games 11-9 and 11-8, respectively, while Hagen prevailed 11-5 in the second and 11-9 in the fourth. The freshman from Delhi, India prevailed in the decisive game, 11-8.
Lucas Rousselet and Dylan Kachur both fell short in five sets. Rousselet dropped his match in the first position to Andrew Douglas after jumping out to a 2-0 lead (11-6, 11-6). The senior had three opportunities to win the match but lost the last three games by 11-6, 11-6 and 11-7 margins.
Kachur bounced back from an 11-6 loss in the first game with 14-12 and 11-7 wins to go ahead 2-1 in the third position. James Flynn tied the match with an 11-5 winner in the fourth game then topped Kachur 12-10 in the deciding game.
Noel Heaton and Matthew Lucente took one game each in their 3-1 losses in the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
The Dragons (1-1) return to the courts next weekend for a pair of matches with top-10 competition. Drexel hosts No. 7 Columbia on Saturday at 4 p.m. before traveling to fourth-ranked Princeton next Sunday at 12 p.m.
